Eagle’s Nest

The Shiner Scout Troop, known as “The Eagle Scout Capital of Texas”, has over a century of history producing Eagle Scouts.  The tradition goes back to July, 1913 when William Elmo Merrem was awarded the first Eagle Scout Rank west of the Mississippi River.  Since that first award, another 147 Eagle Scouts have gone through the Shiner Troop.  Shiner is considered “The Eagle Scout Capital of Texas” due to the number of boys who have attained the rank of Eagle Scout per eligible boy population.  

We are very proud to list the young men who attained the highest rank granted by Boy Scouts of America while in Troop 231, the rank of Eagle Scout.
